In 2018, Portland based director Travis Hanour asked if I would art direct and animate the screen graphics for his upcoming short, Porter. I’m a huge fan of Travis’ work and was incredibly excited to be a part of his next project and naturally jumped at the opportunity.

Porter takes place at a point in time where air travel has ceased to exist and a new emergent technology in the form of teleportation is discovered, in a corrupt and turbulent near-future world. At the time I had recently been to Japan and one of the things I loved was how alien everything felt, despite having a level of familiarity. I think one of the key challenges for UI design in film is creating something that feels distinctly different, futuristic, but rooted in today’s UIs so the viewer can make the connections needed.
